About Dr. Yukie Kurumiya

Founder & Director, KIND Global Lab

Behavior Scientist for Human Systems

Dr. Yukie Kurumiya, PhD, BCBA-D, IBA, is a behavior analyst, educator, researcher, and international collaborator whose work focuses on understanding and improving human systems across individual, organizational, and societal levels.

Drawing upon behavior analysis, contextual behavioral science, evolutionary science, human performance engineering, and prevention science, her work explores how contexts, contingencies, and systems influence human well-being, resilience, cooperation, and sustainable change. Her interests span behavioral science, public health, sociology, disaster science, organizational science, and global education, reflecting a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to complex societal challenges.

Dr. Kurumiya serves as faculty at The Chicago School and is actively involved in research, professional training, international collaboration, and interdisciplinary initiatives that bridge behavioral science with public health, organizational development, and community well-being. She is a ProSocial Facilitator Trainer and has contributed to the dissemination of behavioral science across cultures through teaching, scholarship, translation, and professional development initiatives.

Her current work includes the development of the SEED Research Project and Functional Kindnessâ„¢, a concept that emphasizes intentional, contextually grounded, and culturally responsive actions that support sustainable well-being, cultural health, and collective flourishing.

Through KIND Global Lab, Dr. Kurumiya seeks to advance behavioral and evolutionary science while fostering meaningful partnerships that promote human, organizational, and societal well-being around the world.
